This standard sets the principles, requirements, and guidelines for calculating the carbon footprint of products, that is, the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated throughout their life cycle: from raw material extraction, through manufacturing and use, to disposal at the end of life.

It is based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies described in ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, focusing specifically on the climate change impact category.

Benefits of implementing ISO 14067:

  • Identification of improvement opportunities: By breaking down emissions by life cycle stages, it helps identify critical points to reduce the product's environmental impact.
  • Transparency and credibility: Provides clear and verifiable data that can be audited, strengthening customer, partner, and investor trust.
  • Competitive advantage: Helps position sustainable products in increasingly environmentally-conscious markets.

It is important to note that ISO 14067 focuses only on the quantification and reporting of carbon footprint, excluding aspects such as emission offsetting or external communication of results.
