MITECO

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) is the government department responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing public policies related to the environment, energy, water, biodiversity, climate change, and demographic challenges.

• Energy Policy: Develops and applies national energy strategies, promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy sources to move towards a decarbonized economy.
• Environmental Protection: Oversees the conservation of ecosystems, biodiversity, water management, coastal protection, and the reduction of environmental pollution.
• Climate Change Action: Leads strategies for mitigating and adapting to climate change, including carbon footprint regulation and the promotion of clean technologies.
• Demographic Challenge: Develops and promotes policies to curb rural depopulation, balance territorial development, and address the challenges of an aging population.
