Carbon Neutrality

Achieving carbon neutrality means that an organization, country, or individual emits only the amount of CO2 that can be removed through natural or technological processes. This approach is at the heart of the Paris Agreement commitments and long-term climate strategies.

Strategies to achieve neutrality:

Asesoría Inicial Gratuita

  • Emissions reduction:
Implement measures to minimize emissions in sectors such as energy, transport, industry, or agriculture, by adopting renewable energy, energy efficiency, or electrification.
  • Emissions compensation:
Invest in projects that capture or avoid equivalent emissions, such as reforestation, clean energy, or nature-based solutions.
  • Carbon capture and storage (CCS):
Use technologies that capture CO2 from emitting sources or directly from the air, and store it in geological formations or reuse it in industrial processes.

Importance:
Carbon neutrality is an essential goal for limiting global warming to below 2°C, as stated in the Paris Agreement. It is also an indicator of climate leadership and corporate sustainability.

Global commitments:
The European Union and many countries have already set 2050 as the deadline to achieve this goal. Companies, through initiatives like SBTi or Net Zero Standard, are aligning their strategies with these objectives.

At airCO2, we help organizations design their roadmap to climate neutrality by measuring, reducing, and offsetting their emissions in a rigorous and transparent manner.
